The AMZehnder Gallery began when Anne-Marie Zehnder discovered the historic building at 25 Bank Street while searching for studio space. “I looked at the building and immediately saw a path to share my experience with art, while creating a place for the community to connect with the thriving contemporary art scene of the Outer Cape. It’s a space where artists and art lovers alike can explore, create, enjoy and learn.
Founded in 2020, the Gallery has become an integral part of Wellfleet’s vibrant art scene. It provides a platform for established local artists to exhibit their work and also hosts classes, artist talks, and receptions that foster connection and creativity.
Anne-Marie was born and raised in Wellfleet in a deeply creative family, instilling in her a passion for art and a profound love of nature. She is drawn to the region’s unique blend of creativity and strong community, a community she feels the power of: “The art community is here and strong. I am tapping into it.”
Anne-Marie holds a BFA in painting from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a master’s degree from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Since college, she has worked as a ceramic artist and has built a wide range of professional experience—teaching art in public and private schools and museums, as well as working in galleries.
